The Bible never pretends that life is easy. In fact, it’s a library of messy stories: tales of failure and redemption, tragedy and triumph, hope, and wisdom in the face of difficulty. It’s also the story of how God works to turn all those things to good, through the pages of history.
In the New Testament, James gives some advice to people going through difficulties:
“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” - James 1:12
Keep going! Whatever’s tough that you have to face today, keep moving, persevere! There’s a crown of life with your name on it, just on the other side of the test.
There are lots of good reasons for persevering - it builds your character, it gets you to your destination, and it shows the world what God can do through you.
Another is that it might just unlock something for somebody else! What story would you like to tell someone who’s going through what you once faced? What would you like them to thank you for?
Life can be messy, but today remember that your journey through it is a story the world needs to hear. Keep moving!
